WRITER, DIRECTOR AND PRODUCER STAFFORD U. BAILEY
Stafford U. Bailey founded 20 Four 7 Productions over ten year ago and serves as Executive Producer on all the company's productions as well as producing and directing many of the company's projects, including SHOWTIME’s groundbreaking documentary Blacks Without Borders: chasing the American Dream in South Africa, the docu-drama Hurricane Biker Girls of San Diego and the episodic documentary Black Chrome.
Bailey began his television career at WJZ-TV in Baltimore where he worked his way up from intern to producer in less than a year. His work there included producing television segments with the now famous Oprah Winfrey. He created and developed the stations hit series, City Line. He was one of the producers for the nationally syndicated kid’s show Wonderworld and was creatively involved with two extremely successful commercial campaigns, This moment in Black History and This Moment in Sports.
After three years at WJZ. He moved to Los Angeles and joined the creative team at Telepictures. There he produced entertainment and lifestyle reports that aired as feature news segments at over 200 TV stations. The following year he decided to join the freelance market as an independent producer/director. His projects included producing lead-in stories for CBS’ Academy of Country Music Awards Show, profile features for WABC’s Hollywood Close Up, Oscars pre-show and 330. Bailey has produced and directed such notable TV specials and series as A Laugh, A Tear with Whoopi Goldberg, The Black Road to Hollywood and The Other Side of Victory with Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts.
As an original content producer, Bailey has produced and or directed over 50 TV, film and video projects. They include the innovative behind-the-scenes look at John Singleton’s Boyz n the Hood, Ice Cube’s Friday sequels, Are We There Yet?, The Jacksons - An American Dream and Tyler Perry’s House of Pain and Meet the Browns. His television projects have aired on ABC, CBS, NBC, HBO, SHOWTIME, BET and TBS. He has worked with some of the most creative and talented people both in and outside of Hollywood including Drew Barrymore, Halle Berry, Ice Cube, Jamie Foxx, Whoopi Goldberg, Brian Grazer, Faith Hill, Jessica Lange, Spike Lee, Michael Mann, Eddie Murphy, Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey
